Who is it for?
This Course is aimed at residential and domiciliary care workers including those that work with older people who are living in their own home or in care homes anCare workers undertaking the Common Induction Standards or NVQ Mandatory units in Health and Safety.
People Handling Training Course Content
- Legislation on moving and handling
- Anatomy of the spinal column
- Common injuries associated with poor handling techniques
- Factors that contribute to safer handling
- The principles of efficient movement; undertaking a risk assessment of service users
This half day course provides a theoretical awareness of the principles of safe moving and handling. It will be of particular interest to residential and domiciliary care workers including those that work with older people who are living in their own home or in care homes. The content includes: legislation on moving and handling; anatomy of the spinal column; common injuries associated with poor handling techniques; factors that contribute to safer handling; the principles of efficient movement; undertaking a risk assessment of service users. Care workers undertaking the Common Induction Standards or NVQ Mandatory units in Health and Safety will benefit from this course, and in line with CSCI guidance should repeat this course annually.
